The Unimedic Group has many years of experience and extensive expertise within the manufacturing, development, distribution, sales and marketing of pharmaceuticals. The company is, today, one of the fastest growing pharmaceutical companies within the Nordic market and has, over the past three years, increased the turnover from MSEK 100 to MSEK 600. The founding of a district laboratory in Matfors in the mid-1960s was the start of pharmaceutical operations. The privately owned phamacy was at the time the regional provider of extemporaneous drug preparations (specials). In the 1970s, the pharmacies in Sweden were nationalized and the plant in Matfors was incorporated into the state owned company, ACO. During the 1980s the plant was first owned by Kabi and later by Pharmacia.
Unimedic AB is founded by Nils Ivrell, Lennart Leyonberg and Kenth-Olov Norman when Pharmacia discontinued production at the Matfors plant. At that time, operations consisted of contract production and around 10 people were employed at the plant.
Unimedic is acquired by NewScience which later became the MedCap group.
Unimedic becomes the first privately owned Pharmacy for Extemporaneous Drug Preparations, as well as the first company to challenge the state owned APL in 40 years.
Unimedic buys Ergobe Pharma, which was the first company in Sweden to focus on non-licensed pharmaceuticals.
The company acquires Metadon Pharmadone and Cross Pharma. Cross Pharma pioneered the import of licensed pharmaceuticals into Sweden. They started operations in the 1980s and were the first company to operate in the sector.
Unimedic Pharma AB is established. This is the start of Unimedic´s investments and engagement in Specialty Pharma. Unimedic Pharma is the Sales & Marketing affiliate and it promotes own developed and in licensed pharmaceuticals with focus in emergency and hospital care.
Today, Unimedic has a total of 150 employees working in production, quality assurance, administration, sales and marketing, storage and distribution.
Unimedic launches its first internally developed pharmaceutical Phenylephrine in Sweden.
Unimedic acquires Miwana AB, a manufacturer of nasal spray products which complements the company’s other production of liquid pharmaceuticals.
Unimedic signs several new partnerships for the Nordic markets, including long term agreements with Basilea, Martindale and Ayrton.
Unimedic launches two new registered drugs for the Swedish market (Flourin and Vitamin D).
Unimedic has commercial presence established in all Nordic markets and Poland.
OP Andersson Distillery inaugurated at our CDMO plant in Matfors.
In the beginning of 2017 another specialty pharma product was registered for the Swedish market (Prednisolon klysma).
